Extract Pages from PDF

Save the pages you need from a long PDF as a new document. Enter pages like 1-3, 5, 8-10, check the count, and download the result. Your original file stays untouched.

Your files are processed locally in your browser tab. They are not uploaded to this server and they are not sent to any third party.

How to extract pages from a PDF

  1. Add the PDF file you want to take pages from.
  2. Note the page count that the tool detected.
  3. Type the pages you need, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10.
  4. Choose one combined PDF or one file per page.
  5. Press "Extract pages" and download the new document.

Practical details

  • The page count is read from the document, so the field never suggests impossible pages.
  • Invalid entries are rejected one by one, with the offending text quoted in the message.
  • A range that runs past the last page is trimmed to the last real page, and the change is reported rather than applied silently.
  • Selecting more pages than the document holds is flagged, because that usually means a typo.
  • Extracting every page in order is allowed and simply produces a copy of the document.

What this tool does not do

  • It does not keep bookmarks, outlines, form data, attachments or document-level scripts.
  • It does not unlock encrypted or password-protected documents.
  • It does not run OCR, so pages that are scans stay scans.
  • It does not compress the result: an extracted page keeps the resolution it had.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Split PDF?

They do the same copying work, but they aim at different tasks. Extract PDF Pages is built for pulling a small set of pages out of a long document, such as one chapter or a signed page. Split PDF is built for dividing a document into parts and for exporting one file per page. Use whichever matches how you think about the job.

Do the extracted pages keep their formatting?

Yes. The pages are copied as they are, including their fonts, images, vector art and stored rotation. Nothing is re-rendered or recompressed, so a page looks identical in the new document.

Can I extract pages in a different order?

Yes. Pages are copied in the order you type them, so "5, 1-3" produces a document that starts with page 5. Duplicate entries are listed once and the interface tells you when that happens.

What is lost from the original document?

Document-level structures are not carried over: bookmarks, outlines, embedded attachments, document JavaScript, form field data and the original metadata. The page content itself, which is what people normally need, is preserved.

Can I get one file per page?

Yes. Choose "A separate PDF for each page" and the pages are delivered as individual PDFs in a ZIP archive, with a download button for every file as well.

What happens with an encrypted or damaged file?

The document is opened and read before anything is copied. A password-protected file is reported as encrypted, and a file that cannot be parsed is reported as damaged. Neither case produces an empty or partial download.

Is the original file modified in any way?

No. The file is read into memory and never written back. Only a brand new document containing the pages you selected is produced.
